Haydnhaus, 1060 Vienna, Haydngasse 19. Josef Haydn (1732-1809) spent his last 12 years at this address and there he composed The Creation and The seasons.
Mozart apartment, 1010 Vienna, Domgasse 5, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart spent the happiest years of his short life (1756-1791). In this apartment he composed the world-famous opera Le Nozze di Figaro.
Franz Schubert’s birthplace, 1090 Vienna, Nußdorfer Straße 54. Franz Schubert (1797-1828) spent the first four and a half years of his life in the house at Nussdorfer Straße. The apartment, in which he died, Schubert’s dying apartment, 1040 Vienna, Kettenbrückengasse 6, can also be visited.
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) was born in Bonn, but spent most of his life in Vienna. All of his symphonies were composed and premiered in Vienna. He lived in several locations in Vienna. The Beethoven Museum in Heiligenstadt, 1190 Vienna, Probusgasse 6, is worth visiting. In 1802 he wrote there the Heiligenstädter Testament, a letter addressed to his brothers but never sent to them. He expressed his despair over his progressive deafness.
Johann Strauss Apartment, 1020 Vienna, Praterstrasse 54. Johann Strauss (1825 – 1899) was the most successful waltz composer of his time and an international star. In this house he composed the world-famous waltz On the beautiful blue Danube, Austria’s “unofficial anthem”.
