As a solo traveler you have the advantage to do all the things you like at your own pace, having all the time you need. You arrived in Vienna and do not want to bother about which, where and what, then hire a private guide :). Get a personalized itinerary according to your taste and explore the city in company. I treat my guests like friends and show them my favorite places besides the main attractions of Vienna. Let me give you some suggestions:
In Vienna we have charming historical houses, which have green courtyards you would never imagine that exist. To get a better understanding for the everyday life in Vienna’s city centre take my Off-the-beaten-path Vienna Tour. It’s perfect for a solo travler in Vienna. Groups are not welcome into the hidden courtyards…
See the art collections of the Habsburgs in the Museum of Fine Arts (Kunsthistorisches Museum), which is a Highlight in Vienna. The Leopold Museum focuses on paintings, furniture and design of the period around 1900, when Vienna was the cultural centre of Europe. To learn more about the art in these museums you can book my Guided visits to Viennese museums or my Vienna 1900 tours. Only in Vienna you can visit The Snowglobe Museum, a Viennese tradition since 1900 and design your own snowglobe. That is an advantage of beeing a solo traveler! Or visit a curiosity museum like the Museum of Contraception or Abortion or the Museum of Art Fakes.

Parts of the Vienna Woods are within the limits of Vienna. Pötzleinsdorferpark in the 18th district (end stop of tram 41) is a park with long avenues in the woods. If your are lucky, you might spot a shy roe deer. Take an extended walk in the fresh air and admire the posh neighborhood with beautiful houses. Do not worry, if you are solo traveler in Vienna! It is one of the safest capitals!
If you really want to hike in the Vienna Woods and see the wine area and the Danube, then book my Vienna Woods Private Hiking Tour. Talking about wine… Learn more about the wine culture and the Heuriger from my article The Heuriger feeling of Vienna.
A Viennese coffee house is a place where you can be “alone among people” said the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig. It is the extension of the living room. You can work, think, write, observe the people around you or simply read a newspaper. There is a big variety of newspapers and magazines, national and international. My favorite Viennese coffee houses are Cafe Sperl (Gumpendorferstrasse 11, 1060 Vienna) and Ritter (Ottakringer Str. 117, 1160 Vienna).
The design neighborhood is the 7th district of Vienna (area around Lindengasse, Siebensterngasse, Neubaugasse). Modern Viennese designers and off-the-track companies have their stores there; clothes, shoes, accessoires, furniture, curiosities.
Vienna has several movie theaters, where you can watch the film in its original version or in English: Haydn Kino, Artis Kino, Burg Kino. The Vienna English Theater offers performances almost every evening and is a favorite theater of the Viennese.
Have you heard about Internations? It is a social network for expats worldwide. See what they offer during your stay in Vienna. It might be a party in a grand place in the city or a group activity during the day.
Enjoy your stay in Austria!
